Gungahlin Uniting Church
3pm Sunday 10th September 2017
If you have been new to Gungahlin Uniting in 2017 you are invited to come along and meet with others over a relaxed afternoon tea. This is also an opportunity to ask questions or get to know more about other activities at GUCCC.
Come along to GUCCC from 2 pm to 4 pm with Heather and Jonathan. It will be a good opportunity for the young people and Jonathan to meet and enjoy some activities together.
That on 21 June 2009, when this congregation was still meeting at Ngunnawal Primary School, our special guest preacher for Refugee Sunday was the Rev Dr Jonathan Barker? At the time he was described as a person who had experience of working with refugees in detention centres in South Australia and was instrumental at Pilgrim Uniting Church, Adelaide, in setting up a ‘Circle of Friends’ who visited Baxter Detention Centre and supported many refugees on release.
Calling a new minister: The Joint Nominating Committee, which was elected by the GUC congregation to seek a new minister, has met several times. They have already met with one person for a conversation and have an appointment to meet a second person. When there are signs of a possible good match between a minister and GUC, there will be further conversations with that person. In time, a name will be brought to the congregation for confirmation. While this work is going on, we are grateful to have the ministry of Rev Dr Jonathan Barker over the next few months.
We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.
We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.

Worship is for all ages, (0 to 93!) and seeks to be meaningful in different ways for us all.
In Jesus Christ we see how he drew near to each and all and so we hope our worship expresses this nearness too.
We worship at the Gungahlin Uniting Church & Community Centre.
