The Uniting Church is noted for its diversity and its desire to be inclusive. While we welcome people from many linguistic and cultural backgrounds, we also affirm those of diverse sexual orientations. However it is recognised that people may have questions regarding sexuality and would like to be better informed as citizens and Christians. The upcoming plebiscite on same sex marriage highlights that there are many differing opinions not only in the community at large but also within the wider Christian community.
Church Council Nominations and AGM
The Annual General Meeting for Gungahlin Uniting Church will take place after worship on Sunday 5th November. This year we are electing up to seven new members for Church Council. It is up to everyone in the congregation to discern who you would like to nominate for Church Council – please read the information on the nomination forms and return your forms into the pink box in the church foyer by Sunday 15th October.
Our Church at Prayer …
Inviting you to think about our own church community the wider church, the world!
- We pray for our Playgroup families- for the health and wellbeing of both parents and children and for calm and quiet times amidst the busyness of family life.
- This week we pray for Wattle Park- for the health and well-being of the congregation.
- This week we pray for Ghana and Nigeria. Give thanks for Christians and Muslims who take risks to work for dialogue and reconciliation between the two faith communities.
