Welcome to Gungahlin Uniting Church
Everyone is welcome as we gather as a Christian community in this place. Rev. Mark Faulkner is our Minister, but in this congregation we encourage all people to be involved and to share as they are able. Today we all stay together for all age worship which includes communion. The sharing of bread and wine reminds us of the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples and is an expression of our faith. Everyone who is here is invited to come forward and receive a piece of bread and to dip it into the cup as an expression of your faith and the welcome of Christ. Following worship today we have morning tea and a light BBQ lunch and again everyone is invited to stay around and share in this time together.
Lent at Gungahlin Uniting Church
Lent is a time of 40 days before Easter and is part of the church throughout the world. In lent we reflect on the journey of Jesus towards the cross and it is a time for us to ponder our journeys and faith.
This year Lent begins on 5th. March, which is called Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday there will be a short gathering at 7.30pm here at the church for anyone who wants to come along. At that service we recall our own mortality as we start the journey with Christ towards the cross. Each Sunday in Lent we will also have a member of the congregation share a little of their life and faith journey. This is an opportunity for us to acknowledge that the Christian walk takes many paths and that faith weaves throughout all things. At the end of Lent we have Easter Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I hope you will join us for the journey.

I am doing fine too just too much work in the office. Yes I am in Windhoek and my family is doing fine in the North, I often visit my father who is getting very old but doing excellent. Well, I will appreciate the donation, I have paid the electricity for the building just waiting for connection and the kids are assisting with the digging, because the pipe will go underneath. Currently, I am busy trying to enroll our customs officers to study with the UC but online and this process has taken my time. Greetings to everyone in the Church, tell them I appreciate their generosity and love them all. Oh I miss Canberra very much, but mostly the people from the Church especially the Sundays.
Oasis Leaders Needed
Oasis is our primary aged group and we are in need of a key leader for terms 2 & 4 this year. Oasis meets after morning tea on most Sunday’s and material for the group and activities is supplied. This is an important part of the life of our church and you are being asked to consider if this is one way that you could serve. The leader would need to have been a part of the life of our church for a reasonable period of time and also have their Working With Vulnerable People license. If you are interested please speak with Rev. Mark.

Lawn Mower Needed!
The Church needs a ‘new’ second hand lawnmower in reasonable condition considering the rough terrain. If you have one just hanging around please talk to Mark Faulkner or Mark Phythian.
Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry
Our food pantry has now been open for about 9 months and continues to be an encouraging part of our life and mission. Those who come along appreciate it immensely. We have 97 members now and our food orders continue to grow. We are considering if the current times of opening, Thursday 12-3pm, is the best time. Usually most weeks we have a very busy time, 12-1, after which it quietens down considerably. We are wondering if Thursdays 11-1 would be a better time for the community as it is over lunch time for anyone who works. We are also wondering if on a Thursday between 6-7pm would be good too. But this would require more volunteers for that one hour per week. It would mean coming in, opening up, but no cleaning up or counting money etc. (walk in… walk out) Would you be interested? If so, put your name on the list in the foyer.
