Ever heard of “Consultation on Life and Witness of Gungahlin Congregation” and the “Vitality of Call for Minister”?
Sounds really important doesn’t it? – and guess what it is. Every few years the Presbytery conducts discussions with congregations and ministers to make sure that everything is going well (or not). Well on 28 June it’s our turn.
The Presbytery of Canberra Region has appointed Rev Margaret Middleton, retired UCA minister and Rev Steve Coster, minister at Queanbeyan UC to undertake the consultation.
They will be exploring with the congregation, church council and minister how they see the mission and life of the congregation. The team will have conversations with each party to help them understand both the joy and frustration (if any) of Gungahlin congregation and will explore the possible future directions of the congregation and the minister. All this will help Presbytery understand how it has been and possibly will be for Gungahlin in the future as the congregation seeks to serve the mission of God in its community
This Sunday 28 June 2015 the Presbytery team will meet with us, the congregation of Gungahlin Uniting. They will introduce themselves at the congregational meeting we have after church to endorse the budget and time will be allowed for questions and comments. After that they will meet individually with congregational members if required – you can put your name down for this on Sunday or if you are away and want to meet with the team let our Church Council Chairperson, Chris Dodd know.
In case you are wondering, the sort of things the Presbytery Team are interested in are:
- What do you feel are the joys, pleasures…strong points in this congregation?
- What are some of the points of pains…weaknesses…frustrations?
- Worship: – What do you like about the way worship is conducted?
- What opportunities are there for people to grow spiritually?
But of course this consultation is for all of us – so you get to say what you want to say and you are encouraged to do so.
If you have any questions please talk to our Church Council Chairperson, Chris Dodd.
