Share the Dignity was established earlier this year in response to the urgent needs of homeless Australian women.
While for most women, our monthly period is just a slight inconvenience, for homeless women this time of the month can be a traumatic & shameful exercise – having to clean themselves in public toilets & use paper towels or rags to create makeshift sanitary pads.
Gungahlin Uniting Church is now a collection point for the Share the Dignity campaign from now until the end of August. The collection bin is under the veranda of the Mustard Seed Food Pantry at the end of the GUC car park. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is also a small box in the church foyer which is available when the building is open. Please consider donating sanitary items.
Sanitary items will be donated from Share The Dignity to Karinya House, Berryl Women Inc, Inanna.Inc & Louisa’s Domestic Violence Service among others for distribution to local women’s shelters, domestic violence shelters & any women that are at risk or in need.
