WELL DONE GOOD, AND FAITHFUL SERVANT
Today’s parable of the talents again appears to turn things upside down. Being servants does not bring privilege, status or anything to glory in. Being servants means having responsibility. Those who do not share what they have been entrusted with are harshly admonished.
Here we see that God’s compassion and goodness are not flabby and indulgent; nor can we separate mercy from accountability.
Instead we have to realise that love is not nice; love is truthful. It is often “tough love” that challenges us to face the responsibility for our attitudes, actions and their consequences.
