Hi everyone, this week we’ve put some resources together to help you engage in worship with your family at home. This week we encourage you to discuss with your household:
a) What kind of church/community do you want to be a part of, and how do you think you can build that at Gungahlin?
b) What images, or names do you find helpful when you speak to and about God?
Readings
Psalm 23 (MSG)
Audio (Darren Wright)
Acts 2:42-47 (CEV)
Audio & Video (Bruce Warren)
Song:
Leigh Newton has written a new song based on this reading, listen to it here and reflect on the reading in song. Perhaps this would be a good song to learn and sing together this week at home?
Another song we’ve been enjoying singing at home has been the song God’s Love Endures Forever by Richard Bruxvoort-Colligan
Perhaps you’d like to find different versions of the song “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and compare the ways different people sing it.
Story:
Living together:
Darren reads the story “Living Together” from the Growing in God’s Love Story Bible
Questions for Conversation:
- What doues it sound like when people are praising God? How do you praise God? Ask someone you love what it sounds like when they are praising god.
- Who is in your church? Can you imagine them and draw a picture of your church community?
- How do pope show love, how do people help others? What are some ways you can share love with others?
What is God’s Name?
Darren reads the story “What is God’s Name?” from the Growing in God’s Love Story Bible
Questions for Conversation:
- What are the names for God you’ve heard? What names for God are sung or prayed?
- What name do you like using for God? How do you imagine God looks or sounds like?
- What are some ways you could help God by being a peacemaker?
Worship @ Home Ideas
If you are creating a little reflective corner at home here are a couple of ideas:
a) add to the space some wool, or a toy sheep and take time during the week to consider how your faith nurtures you and what you can do to nurture others.
b) build/draw/paint/create a model church and add it to the space, and take time during the week to consider what kind of church community you want to help build in Gungahlin.
