Today in Worship
Today we acknowledge all the work done by many people in the congregation to contribute to our life. We also pray for our new Church Council for 2012; Matthew Grudnoff, Wayne Hart, Rosemary Sweet, Brian Lord, John McKenzie, Rob Tanton & Heather Lamb. Morning Tea is served in the middle of our worship, followed by Oasis for primary children, Mentors for our teenagers and the message, reflecting on today’s readings.
Boy’s Brigade Leaders
Each Wednesday night we have supported the work of Boy’s Brigade; a group for primary school/high school aged boys. This group encourages community work, social interaction, craft and learning, and spiritual growth and thought. For 2012, we are needing more leaders to help this group in its work. Leadership could be through working with small groups of boys, or taking on a support role in meeting parents/preparing drinks etc. If you would like to be involved please speak with Bruce Warren or Mark Faulkner.
Everything In Common Gift Stall
During the Sundays of Advent, a Gift Stall will be available to support the work of UnitingWorld. This is one of many ways we can share gifts at Christmas with those who have little. UnitingWorld exists to enable meaningful connections between churches and individuals in Australia with churches and communities in Asia, Africa and the Pacific. The aim is to ‘see transformed local communities where peace and justice reign, pointing people to hope and life in Jesus Christ’. Gift prices range from $10 to $50. Some gifts (for Relief and Development/Peacemaking, linked with AusAID funding) are tax deductible. Other gifts (for Church Solidarity/Experience) are not tax deductible. Visit the Gift Stall or talk to Margaret Reeson (Ph: 6262 3677)

GUC stall at ‘Christmas in Gungahlin’
The Land Development Authority are once again holding ‘Christmas in Gungahlin’ in Gungahlin place (between The G and The Market Place) on Saturday 10 December from 10:30am to 1:30pm. We have accepted their offer to have a stall at the event, and will be selling Christmas cards, 2nd hand goods, books, and baked goods. While we have the cards, books and 2nd hand goods ready to sell, we are looking for volunteers to provide baked goods (cakes, slices, etc but no cream as fillings or toppings). We are also calling for volunteers to staff the stall. Please see Shirley, Lynne or Elizabeth if you can assist with either request.
Baptism
Next Sunday 4th. We celebrate Adult Baptism as Anand Deo, Eden Deo, and Janette Deo come to express their faith and as we affirm God’s love for them. This is an wonderful celebration for the Deo family and for our congregation and so we encourage you to be a part of this special day. If members of the congregation would like to bring additional food for morning tea that would be welcomed.

Angel Tree
Angel Tree is run by Prison Fellowship and works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of a Christmas gift. This is GUC’s third year involved in this program and this year we have been given 19 children to buy for. If you would like to be involved in this program follow these 4 simple steps.
1. See Jenelle Martin during morning tea and choose a child’s angel.
2. Go shopping and buy a present (that is suggested on their angel) for that child valued at about $25 – $30.
3. Give Jenelle the present (unwrapped) by Sunday 4th December.
4. Keep that child, and their family, in your prayers.
Jenelle, and another volunteer, will deliver these presents to the children from 5th – 14th December.
Gungahlin Community Christmas Carols
Last year for the first time we joined with the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish and Salvation Army for a BBQ and Community Carols. Again this year on Sunday evening 18th. December you are invited to join this community event in the paddock adjacent to the Uniting Church. If it is raining we will be inside (as it did last year!!!)
Mouse!
Does anyone know where the mouse has gone from the volunteer’s computer in the office??? I believe there are two possibilities. (1) the pest controller did such a good job that the mouse ate the bait and went outside to die. Or (2) someone accidently put it in their bag!
Printer!
Would anyone like a near new computer printer for free? If so please see the Faulkner’s. It is suitable for someone who prints now and then, but not for anyone with teenagers printing endless assignments!
