This week at Gungahlin Uniting…
Today is the 3rd. Sunday in the month. This means that we all worship together for the first half before we share in morning tea. Following morning tea Oasis (primary aged) meets in the courtyard rooms, Billabong (Teenagers) meet with Jacquie (meet in foyer to begin) and in the auditorium there is the message and reflection on the Gospel.
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent (This Wednesday 22nd.) Traditionally in the church, Ash Wednesday has been a day of reflection and confession as it begins the time before Easter when we remember Jesus drawing closer to his own death on the cross. On Ash Wednesday, at 10am., I will hold a meditative service with communion for anyone who would like to come along. Again, anyone can come along and is welcome! If you have any questions about Ash Wednesday or Lent please feel free to speak with me.
Spice Kids
The gathering of the adults lunch group “Spice Kids” will be held TODAY, 12 noon at Ginger & Spice. The approx cost will be $15.00.
Sunday Evenings in Lent @ Gungahlin Uniting
The first Sunday in Lent is 26th. February. Lent is the period of 40 days before Easter. Throughout Lent, each Sunday you are invited to a Bible Conversation in which we will simply discuss the Gospel reading for that Sunday. The Bible Conversation is from 5-6pm. Following this, if you wish, please stay for sandwiches and a cup of tea – please bring a plate if you are able. Then from 7-8pm there will be a new opportunity to worship in a creative, contemporary, informal way. Worship will be on the Sunday’s of 26th. February, 11th, 18th, 25th. March. Everyone is welcome.
With Love To The World
The latest With Love to the World is now available. With Love to the World is a daily bible reading devotional guide produced by the Uniting Church which follows the weekly readings we often use in worship. They are available near the door in the foyer and cost only $4. Please feel free to pick you copy up today!
Home Groups for 2012
At Gungahlin Uniting we have Home Groups which meet on the 3rd. Weekend of the month for friendship and fellowship. The lists of all the groups are in the foyer today; each one named after a Biblical tree!. If you would like to belong to a group please see Mark or Shirley. If you Have any comments, or you thought your name would be on a list, but isn’t, again please see Mark.
Oasis
Today marks the beginning for Oasis in 2012. Jenelle Martin will be taking Oasis for the first term and our unit is entitled ‘The Bible’. We will be looking at this amazing and very useful book, why, even has little people we should pick up the Bible and we will be learning how to find various verses in the Bible. We will be having lots of fun singing some cool new songs and designing and creating Bible posters. Oasis will not be operating on Sunday 4th March as Jenelle will be away.
WWW Brekkie
What Women Want (WWW) will kick-start the year with a breakfast on Saturday 25 February, at 8.30am at Sirens (Cnr Anthony Rolfe Ave & Gozzard St, Gungahlin – located in one end of the Abode Hotel building, across the road from the Police Station). WWW is an opportunity for women to meet for a social gathering and to get to better know each other, and all women and girls are invited to come along. Easter Camp
Canberra Region Presbytery is partnering with Riverina Presbytery to host a young adults Easter “Time Out” weekend at Greenhills. The program is designed for Year 11 and 12, and school leavers.
